Chappelle, Madlib & We're changing the world!
We're changing the world!: I didn't say it. Hugh Hewitt did on the Leonard Lopate show today. By the way Toure is filling in for young Leonard. I guess Lopate had a blind date or something. Anyway Hugh Hewitt is a blogger and he has a new book, Blog: Understanding the Information Reformation That's Changing Your World. The interview was pretty cool, but talk like that scares me. It reminds me of the late 90's when Pets.com and Kozmo.com were valued at 20 billion dollars. Blogs are this year's trucker hat I guess. Luckily we at Dork have a vision that is way bigger than blogging.
Now Toure is talking to Living Color. These dudes are dropping knowledege. Before sampling got big, they were playing on a lot of early hip hip records (i.e. the bassline on White Lines). When I hear interviews like this I realize I know nothing about music. Those dudes are touring with The Roots currently. See them play with The Roots @ Summerstage Tuesday June 28 - why not? The Affair: The Affair is the coolest band ever! If you haven't heard about them, check their site. They have some mp3's for you to sample, and they did a single for Vice called Honey. They're playing at Rothko tonight at 10pm [116 Suffolk b/w Rivington and Delancey] - check for em'.

I know that ?uesto loves Vernon Reid, so this touring news makes sense. And I never really thought about it, but I guess that sampling might really help kill the careers of cats who could otherwise get some studio gigs. I don't know how big of a deal it is, but it seems notable, in the least.

Man, Living Colour was my band way back when... they had an album cut called "Elvis is Dead," and when I saw them in concert, someone held up a sign that said "Elvis is Dead... Living Colour Lives on" and Cory Glover grabbed it and fastened it to his mic stand. May have to get out of work early for that concert next week.
