RESFEST. Just for Kicks

Just for Kicks: I don't know about you, but I think this sneaker thing has gotten way out of control. I've contemplated wearing penny loafers so I don't seem like a too kewl for school psuedo-hipster elitist jerk. Then I see a sick pair of Adidas Decade Hi's and I have to buy them. So I guess you are what you consume. Besides, sneakers marry two things I value: style and comfort.

The movie Just For Kicks isn't just for sneaker-nerds. Although they probably think it is. It's a documentary that's both entertaining and informative. You could watch it with your mom. The coolest part of the movie is this pitch Run DMC sent to Adidas via videotape to get sponsorship. In the video, DMC and Jay point out that Run DMC's My Adidas has been climbing the charts and they've basically been getting free advertising out of it. Run, with the swagger of young Zach Morris, simply yells “give us a million dollars!” A classic moment indeed.

I have to extend a fat shout out to Megan from Res, for inviting me to the afterparty: Champagne & Sneakers. I got a nifty pair of New Balance at the jam. I'm jogging in those babies! Peep the pics below:

Yeah, Unfortunately there was a mixup, the NB 574's were designed by Josh Wisdumb. You will be seeing more of him. Check out the site it's dope.
