Artist. Jon Brion

Artist. Jon Brion: You can call Jon Brion a lot of things, just don't call him a careerist. Brion's eclectic approach has given him the unique opportunity to do whatever he wants. There's nothing better than being able to work when you want, with people that inspire you. Whether it's producing songs for Beck, Kanye, and Fiona or scoring films like I Heart Huckabees and Punch Drunk Love - the motivation is always working with artists that he believes in.
Jon Brion discussed his career as a composer, record producer, and singer-songwriter with John Schaefer on WNYC's Soundcheck. It was intersting hearing Brion talk about using The Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ on We Major. I was also glad to hear that he disagreed with the critics that trashed I Heart Huckabees. Huckabees is a big fave among the Dork staff. Brion will be performing tonight at the Canal Room (285 W. Broadway). [Interview | Tix]
