Artists. TV on The Radio

Artist Review. TV on The Radio: Let's start here. I'm not one of those people who say they listen to everything. I don't. I like a lot of things, but I don't "listen" to a lot of different things. I love and listen to mid nineties hip hop and a few smatterings of its derivatives. That may be a fault, but meh. It's what I like. It takes a really great record to push aside some Tribe. I guess you can call me an audible economist. I consider everything opportunity cost.
That's why I was pleasantly surprised when I heard Return to Cookie Mountain by TV on the Radio. The last record to make this kind of space in my audible experience was Bloc Party's debut release. Songs like I Was a Lover and Wolf Like Me kept me replaying TV's album over and over again. It's like a wonderful soundtrack to a gritty independent film. It has sounds of love, drama, intensity and calm. It's no easy task to make these transitions, but TVOTR does it effortlessly. I love this record. It's worth the opportunity cost. You can listen to the entire album below. Be sure to buy a copy today - it's in stores now.
