Film. Human Nature

Film. Human Nature: Charlie Kaufman is a screenwriter in a class by himself. His offbeat screenplays are simultaneously comedic and tragic. He got his start at 32, writing for sitcoms like Get a Life and The Dana Carvey Show. Between writing assignments, he wrote the inventive screenplay Being John Malkovich and his career went into the stratosphere.
Human Nature is a film written by Kaufman and directed by Michel Gondry. It follows the ups and downs of an obsessive scientist, a female naturalist, and the man they discover who was and raised in the wild. As scientist Nathan trains Puff in the ways of the world - starting with table manners - Nathan's lover Lila fights to preserve Puff's simian past, which represents a freedom enviable to most. In the power struggle that ensues, an unusual love triangle emerges exposing the perversities of the human heart and the idiosyncrasies of the civilized mind. Human Nature is a comical examination of the trappings of desire in a world where both nature and culture are idealized.
