Music. Nina Simone Remixed & Obliqsound Remixes 2

Music. Nina Simone Remixed & ObliqSound Remixes 2: Remixing soulful or jazzy tunes is tough. Many try and fail, but every once in a while you find some gems. Madlib's remix of the BlueNote collection is one of our favorites. And, if you're looking for uptempo beats and energetic sounds, we have two recommendations for you.
First is a remix album for Nina Simone entitled, Remixed and Reimagined. We love the sounds of Nina, so we were a little skeptical about this effort. But, this is a respectable tribute to an artist that is almost impossible to reimagine. Producers Coldcut, Francois K, Tony Humphries and DJ Logic do a fantastic job with the RCA catalog of tunes. Second is Obliqsound Remixes Volume 2. On this album there are uptempo beats that help us step out of the 91-92 bpms usually found on a Tribe Called Quest record. You probably wouldn't find us listening to this everyday, but it's a refreshing change to the music we're usually bumping. Overall the album is beautifully put together. As ObliqSound co-founder, Tobias Tanner states, "As a brand, our philosophy is focused on creating a sensual experience - both audibly and visually - for our fans." Well done, they have accomplished that with ObliqSounds Remixed Volume 2.
