Events. Muhsinah Listening Party

Events. Muhsinah Listening Party: "It's music based on a low end theory." That's what we said when asked to discribe Muhsinah's music. Although we love ATCQ, we're not talking about that low end theory. We're talking about the deep filtered funk that so many strive to create. It's a certain warmth you can feel that's shaped by basslines and rhythmic kicks. A friend forwarded us Muhsinah's music and we haven't stopped listening to it since. It's got that warmth and if you're in Philly tomorrow night (11.16) be sure to check out her listening party.

From her site: With songs like “Discovery”, “Gogh” and “Only and Always” Muhsinah’s knack for evoking the head-nod seems almost intrinsic; all the while, delivering uniquely dynamic and stirring vocals. Her overall choice of words and expressions leave her hovering somewhere between “self-indulgent flower-child” and “post-modern idealist”. It isn’t enough that she sings her heart out in both “Outsource” and “NetKnot”, but her words have meaning, harking lines like “what’s given is what’s asked for”. Whether conventional or unconventional in inception, Muhsinah’s music always seems to fall perfectly to the tastier side of experimental. Unabashedly honest in so many ways, Muhsinah’s makes it clear that although the road less travel looks a bit un-kept and may present some dangers, it is assuredly the most fun path to tread. With a name that translates to “doer of good deeds” it’s no wonder Muhsinah is offering to be our guide. Details about the listening party are listed after the jump.
