Coodie & Chike:
Motion Kings
By Janeé Bolden

A Band Apart directors Coodie and Chike first teamed up two years ago to create Kanye West’s groundbreaking music video Through the Wire. Dorkmag caught up with the visionary duo to talk about their recent adventures, including their recent romp through Europe with the L-R-G skate team and Chike’s Thanksgiving visit to his native New Orleans.

Dorkmag: So what’s been up guys?

Chike: We’re finishing up Road to the Rucker the documentary we did with Baron Davis and we’re waiting for a shoot date for a new video for Leelah James' third single Good Times. We’ve also been taking meetings for a tv show and finishing up some film scripts and getting them out. Oh and the Throw-Yo’s (collectible yo-yos coming out next year) are crazy. We’re going hard this year. We’re really excited.

DM: What’s going on with the LRG skate documentary?

Chike: We’re waiting on LRG to put it together right now – basically we went to Barcelona which is the mecca of skateboarding right now. LRG does endorsements with a bunch of skaters. We did a behind the scenes of skateboarding DVD, showcasing the creation of the DVD. It’s not a normal skateboard DVD, you’ll see the photographers filming and the skaters talking about why they do what they do. It will be kind of a crossover for people that don’t know much about the sport but heavy skateboarders will be into it also.

DM: Barcelona is one of my favorite cities. How did you guys like it?

Chike: We had so much fun. We kicked it. We were okay -- but foreigners are not fuckin with White Americans right now because of Bush.
