DM: How do you feel about the current state of hip-hop?
LB: It’s great. It’s growing. People from all regions
of the world can express their opinions. People can talk about
whatever it is they need to get off their chests. Artists can
feed their families.
DM: What do you think about how woman are portrayed in hip-hop?
LB: It’s unfortunate. It’s okay to be feminine and
feel sexy and powerful but there are so many cases of young women
selling themselves short. The sad thing is that most of the time
there is some guy behind the scenes dictating the image for these
women. I just gotta do what I can to bring a balance. Artists
such as myself and Lauryn have to just teach our children, our
daughters especially, that it doesn’t have to be like that.
Ladybug Mecca “Trip the Light Fantastic” will be released
